Zimmer Frei (Room Available) was a popular form of travel in The Alps of Switzerland, Austria and Germany to announce the availability of overnight rooms for travelers. Small signs saying “Zimmer Frei” were placed in the windows of small inns or private homes in quaint little towns and villages.  The founders of ZimmerFrei traveled and stayed in these rooms more than 25 years ago, never forgetting the convenience of finding a clean, comfortable, last minute room; the pleasant interaction with kind local people; and the speed of checking in for the night.  Now ZimmerFrei is returning Wanderlust to the United States.
